AG Cover Glass

Product Description

Anti-Glare Cover Glass

AG (Anti-Glare) Cover Glass—is a type of functional cover glass specially designed to reduce light reflection and glare through advanced surface treatment technologies such as micro-etching, matte coatings, or physical/chemical scattering structures.

The core principle is to scatter incoming light using microscopic surface roughness, which effectively lowers the surface reflectivity of the glass. As a result, AG cover glass significantly enhances display visibility and clarity, especially in environments with strong ambient lighting.

Key Features of AG Cover Glass

1. Anti-Glare Performance

  • Surface roughness (Ra): 0.1–0.5μm, reducing reflections to <1%.
  • Eliminates glare from sunlight and bright lights, improving visibility—especially outdoors.

2. Optical Properties

  • Haze (5–30%) balances anti-glare with high light transmission (≥90%).
  • Optional AR coating reduces reflections further to <0.5% for premium displays.

3. Durability:

  • Scratch-resistant:

Glass: Mohs 6–7 hardness

PC/PMMA: 3H–4H pencil hardness (with coating)

  • Weather Resistance: Operates from -50°C to +150°C with strong UV resistance—ideal for use in cars & industrial applications.

4. Low-Maintenance

  • Matte surface naturally resists fingerprints.
  • Anti-fingerprinting coating option makes cleaning even easier.

Multi-material options of AG cover glass

Material TypeCharacteristicsSuitable Applications
Aluminosilicate GlassHigh hardness (≈7H), high transmittance, impact resistant, and can be chemically strengthenedPremium smartphones, tablets, automotive displays (central control screens)
Soda-lime GlassRequires surface coating or etching for AG function, moderate anti-glare performanceIndustrial displays, public information screens
PC/PMMA CompositeEconomical, Lightweight, impact resistant (drop resistant), needs a hard coatingPortable devices, educational tablets, medical equipment
Ultra-thin Flexible GlassBendable (curvature radius ≤5mm), can be combined with AG coatingsFoldable display devices, curved automotive displays

Main processing of the cover glass

Surface treatment:

VIIST supports chemical etching and matte coating spraying processes, depending on the application, often combining Anti-reflective coating and anti-fingerprinting coating.

Post-Processing including:

CNC Cutting: For example, precisely cuts special shapes or holes (such as camera openings) in cover glass.

Silkscreen Printing/Back Adhesive: Prints ink patterns (for light-blocking or decorative edges) or applies OCA adhesive for full lamination of cover glass onto display modules.

What AG cover glasses are mainly used for?

VIIST is dedicated to manufacturing cover glasses for diverse applications, ranging from consumer electronics to specialized displays.

  • Consumer Electronics: Smartphones, tablets, e-book readers(e.g., Kindle)
  • Automotive Displays: Central control screens, dashboards, HUD displays
  • Industrial Control: Industrial computers, medical device screens, ATMs
  • Public Facilities: Outdoor advertising displays, ticketing kiosks, and electronic whiteboards
  • Specialized Displays: Aviation instruments, military device screens
